5.1 final mix/DVD burning question
I finally finished editing a 3 camera shoot of a performance by a rock band here in NYC. The video tracks are ok, the audio (separate board and house mix) are very good. A week or so back, I posted a question here on the COW regarding mastering the project, Rob James and John Rofrano gave me invaluable advice and direction – I went out and purchased the iZotope Ozone 3 mastering plug-in – it was worth every penny! I only had to tweak a few setting from one of the pre-sets to nail it! Thanks very much again gentlemen for your help.
Now I’m just about ready to burn the disc. I have an excellent stereo file, but would like to make a 5.1 file as well – using the board mix for the front L&R, and house mix for the rear L&R. for the front center, I’m going to play with the board mix and try to tweak out the vocals using Ozone. My question; to make a proper 5.1 mix in Vegas, (after opening a 5.1 project) do you only have to make a separate track for each speaker position, then drag the small speaker icon towards that corner of the spatial/room location?
Also, I’m not sure how to make a disc with an “audio option” – a button in DVDA to allow the user to select between the stereo and 5.1 renders. I’ve checked the manual, searched the COW and web, but came up with nothing that addressed this directly – or, quite possibly/probably, I veg’ed out and missed it in one of the sources – even a page #, or link to a source explains how to do this would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any tips, suggestions, etc.
