  • change redner template for 4:2:2

Posted by Erin O’neill on July 11, 2008 at 2:29 pm

I am trying to create a custom template for broadcast. I have done it before, but I dont remember what I did (an the computer that was saved on recently died).

Anyway I am trying to render as MPEG 2. I am in the custom template creater under ‘Render As’ – On the Advanced Video tab there is a box for Sample Rate: 4:2:0 (its greyed out so I cant change it). I need to render 4:2:2. I know before there was a setting I changed somewhere else that allowed me to change to 4:2:2, but I cant figure that out now.

    Any help is appreciated!! Thanks.

In the Video tab, change the “Profile” from “Main Profile” to “High Profile”.
Then go to the Advanced Video tab and you’ll be able to switch to 4:2:2

    Mike,

What is the Advantage of the 4:2:2 space? Will I see a difference? Will my clients see a difference? Will this help my 4:1:1 DV video “look better?”

    Thanks,

    Thomas

you can’t create something from nothing. you can’t get higher quality when there is no more quality to be had. the only reason you might want 4:2:2 is to improve chromakey performance
