Viewing video (MainConcept??)
I downloaded the trial for Sony Vegas 8.0, and I’ve just imported some .avi files. I can’t see them in the timeline, and it just says: “Media Offline.” I’ve looked it up in the help section, and it says that I have to use a MainConcept plug-in. Where would I get that, or what do i have to do to get the video clips to show? If someone could help me out, that would be fantastic.

What kind of AVI files? How did you import them and from where?If they were already on your compuer, file-import-media. When you ‘imported’ them, they should have gone into the media bins. From there you drag them down to the timeline.
If it says media offline, then they didn’t get into Vegas, or you moved them.

I’m not a computer person, so if the next few things that I say don’t make much sense, I apologize.
Kind of AVI files? I’m not really sure. They are just video clips that I’ve downloaded off the internet. Also, I imported them from my documents, and it shows that they are there in the media bins. Instead of dragging and dropping them to the timeline however, I followed the “show-me-how tutorial,” which told me to double click on them to get it into the timeline.
Thanks so much for your help, and I’ll try to see if the files are still on my computer. 😀

AVI is a wrapper for many different kinds of video. If they were DV-AVI whyich I doubt since you downloaded them off the internet because standard DV-AVI is 13gb per hour.
Where did you download them from. Maybe we can help you further. They may have been encoded with a codec that Vegas doesn’t support or one that you don’t have on your computer.
Can you just double click one of them and see if it will play in the Windows Media Player?

Hiya~ I’ve got the exact same problem. I downloaded/installed the AVI Codec pack + but it still says Media Offline. I know that my videos are still available, cause I can still watch them, just not use them in Sony Vegas.
I downloaded the videos from Veoh TV. >.>” I’m completely baffled- I goggled my prob and went to like, every link possible. I did what they said [codec installed, video available] and it apparently worked for everyone but me x(. Any suggestions for me too?
