  Broadcast format in Pro 8 (PAL not NTSC)

  Hi All,

  I’m in Australia and have just upgraded to Pro 8 from Platinum 7, so I’m still feeling my way around (just bought your book DSE)

  I am filming a conference in July and have been asked to render for Broadcast (please note this will be PAL here in Australia). I note that IN pRO 8 there is a template to limit colours to broadcast legal but I have been told this template is applicable only to NTSC, is this correct? I’ve also been asked if I can render/output using the DV50 Codec. I’ve know idea what this is, can i be found in Pro 8, is it downloadable, any tips?

  I’ve never rendered for Broadcast so can anyone give me any tips at all such as render formats etc.

  conference, broadcasting?

  does this mean it’s actually going to be broadcasted, or is it simply, a video OF broadcast quality, or just the current buzz word in their marketing dept?

  how are you meant to deliver the master? tape, hd, blu ray?

  i would have thought your supplying a dvc50 tape, unless you’ve got a deck or access to one, a bit of a pain.

  if they wand it on hd, i would ask specifically why? if your master edit is on your time line, you can offer them any number of formats, including original quality m2t, (that is, if you can smart render your t/l).

  Thanks for taking the time to respond to my message. The film/DVD is indeed going to be broadcast, probably on a cable channel belonging to the ABC here in Australia. I’ve asked on forums here and also got a mixed bag of messages, so provingreally confusing.

  OK, final question, does the broadcast colors template in Vegas Pro 8 only apply to NTSC?
