  Does BMD Decklink HD Extreme work with Vegas Pro?

  I was told at NAB by a rep at the Black Magic Design booth that the BMD products (including Decklink HD Extreme) work with Vegas Pro. DSE refers to them as a working option in his Full HD book.

  But a system vendor warns me that the Decklink HD Extreme card may not work well with Vegas Pro, that there is no official support by BMD and some features may not work now or in the future.

  Can anyone speak from experience if this card and Vegas play well together?
  I am especially interested to know will it:
  1) provide a reliable program monitor output via HDMI for 1080-30p/60i/24p and standard DV output?
  2) provide a means to capture analog video and audio to Vegas from standard definition sources (BetaSp)?
  3) provide a means to print to analog formats such as BetaSP from Vegas via composite, YC, or component?
  4) provide balanced, XLR audio in and out to connect with our mixer and router connections?

  Dave,

  Have you found out any answers to your question. I’m in a similar situation. I work at a university with limited funds. We’ve already invested time and money into Sony Vegas, and I’d like to try the BMD option IF IT WORKS.

  Hi Glen,
  No unfortunately I wasn’t able to discover any more info to answer my questions about the BMD Decklink HD Extreme and Vegas.

  Instead we are going to try using the Vegas Secondary Monitor feature, in combination with a graphics card that will output 1920×1200 via HDMI to an HDMI monitor. Still awaiting delivery so I can’t report on how well it works.

  This approach won’t give us the analog/digital capture/print capabilities I was hoping for, it just addresses monitoring.

  I figure we might still consider the BMD card in the future if we have proof that it works, or a unit to try.
