  • Muzzle flash – rendering

Hi there, I’m editing a short action video and it’s my first time experimenting with muzzle flashes. I’m using muzzle flash stock footage from detonationfilms.com, which has a black background that I key out. Everything looks fine in the preview window as I edit, but after rendering or pre-rendering, the muzzle flashes do not show up. Instead, I see a faint zebra-like pattern in the shape of the muzzle flash. Has anyone experienced something similar to this? Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Either you have keyed out too much of the muzzle flashes itself or
the muzzle flash itself was too short/sudden to be properly seen.
Go over again to make sure and also try slowing down the muzzle flash
by holding down the ctrl key while you drag the edge to a distance.

Its likely that the muzzle flash video has an alpha channel (for the black) so you do not have to do the keying. It is hartd to chromakey a small item. You need to turn on the alpha channel of the muzzle event. You’ll probably want to use premultiplied- dirty.
