MPEG2 DVDA file has so much text artifacting
Hello All,
I created a mpeg2 file using the DVDA NTSC template and changed to CB of 9,000 since the VBA version I tried was giving me lots of artifacting with text.
This is an NTSC 720 by 480 size video.
Even with the CB with 9,000 the text looks lousy with all of the razzies on the edge.
Any suggestions. The total video runs 10 minutes long.

Does your text have serifs?
Additionally, you can change the resolution of text in the text dialog box, to 1440 x 960. This helps a lot.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Yes, the text that is causing problems does have serifs … one of them cannot be replaced, it is an official logo for the client that they demand be included in the video.
The others were created in AE CS3.I neglected to mention that this is SD format although I did mention 720 by 480.
the interesting thing is that many of these serif titles were fine when I created them in the previous version of Sony Vegas and DA although I remember playing with the mpeg2 setttings but cannot remember which ones.
Is there anything in the mpeg creation settings that will help with the titles becoming crisper?

Unfortunately some fonts are not very nice when viewed in interlaced. Perhaps encoding to progressive might give you better results? Although the DVD player will still do a conversion, so I’m not sure if it would really help…

Encoding in progressive with 8m kbits did the trick, looks very good.
