There appears to be a boatload of bug fixes applied to the new Vegas Pro v8.0b.

January 19, 2008 at 8:01 amThanks for the updates on both Sony Vegas pro 8 and DVD A.
I noticed on the download page that there is a “Vegas Pro update 1.0b”.
What is this? Do I need it as well.
Cheers Craig

January 19, 2008 at 11:57 amYou definitely don’t need this one.
Vegas Pro 1.0b was the very first version of Vegas and was an audio-only app. -

January 21, 2008 at 5:39 amI have updated DVD-A to 4.5b and still my EXT preview device is’nt working. I only have 1 option in the drop down box on the option tab – “OHCI compliant IEEE 1394/DV”
It works fine in Sony Vegas pro 8.
Is there something else I need to do?
Craig

January 21, 2008 at 11:05 amCraig, how are you doing this in Vegas?
What are you using for an external monitor?
Are you trying to do this at the same time as Vegas is running? -

January 21, 2008 at 7:15 pmIn Vegas I select external monitor and it works 100%.
In DVD-A I select “Options” – Preview on external monitor.
I click on the “Video Device” tab. I only get “OHCI……” option.I am not using them at the same time.
1st monitor is a 37″ LCD BenQ flat monitor, the secondary monitor is an LG 19″ wide LCD.Cheers Craig

January 21, 2008 at 7:39 pmCraig, I stand to be corrected but I think the external monitor feature in DVD Architect is for an external video monitor only.
I went through the DVDA 4.5 manual and that’s the only external monitor reference I could find. -

January 21, 2008 at 8:34 pmI don’t think so. According to the release notes this bug was addressed in the 4.5a update.

January 21, 2008 at 8:49 pmBut that doesn’t say if they’re talking about a computer external monitor or a video external monitor.
As I said, I searched the DVDA 4.5 manual and could not find any reference to the use of a computer external monitor, only a video one. -

January 21, 2008 at 9:01 pmMike is correct, the video output is for a Standard Definition display, over 1394 only. It cannot route to a secondary monitor. You can put the screen on a second monitor during the editing/timeline view, however.
