  • Working with 24p – just settings or do i have to do more?

I’m wondering… cause it seems to easy.

When I want to work a project to ultimately be 24p, I’ll start a new project with the 24p setting. Now when I capture from my 30p miniDV camcorder, does it automatically make my clips 24p when I put them in the timeline?

Or do I need to do more than this to get everything down to 24p?

It is that easy, but if you’re starting with 30p, expect less than stellar results going from 30p to 24p. 50/60i, 25p go to 24p very nicely. 30p doesn’t do so well.

    Thanks for that helpful reply.

Is the poor conversion basically a mathematical one in some respects? like 50 losing every other frame, and 25 being very close to 24 to begin with? And 30 kind of having to lose 6 or so?

    Maybe I’m overthinking it.

I’m just trying to get the closest I can to a more film-like look with my budget Panasonic GS80 camcorder. (have my eyes on a Panasonic DVX100b in the future!).
