  Inserting transitions

  First of all I am a new user to Vegas 7.

  I used a Canon HV20 to import analog video from a VHS-C tape into Vegas 7, this apparently makes the whole imported video into one long scene. I am having difficulty splitting the video and adding transitions. What is the best way to do this?

  Analog video (VHS and 8/HI8) do not offer a scene split option.
  You have two options.
  One is to drop the entire clip on the timeline. Split it up as desired (use the S key for this) and delete the unwanted clips. Drag clips over top of each other to get a basic dissolve. Add transitions over top of these dissolves.
  The other is to open the clip up in the trimer. From here, you can create subclips and add them to the timeline later) or just select the desired segments (one at a time) and drag them to the timeline for further editing.
