  OT: new Sony HVR1000U released in Dec?

  not heard of this until today, and even though is tape only, quite an amazing form factor for USD1900. Seems unreal, but then found link also on Sony press site

  Sony says that their new entry-level HVR HD-1000U video camera brings professional high definition moviemaking for “wedding videographers, freelancers and educational video creators.” … the shoulder-mount design will tighten those pans, as will the Super SteadyShot optical image stabilizer. Not to mention the Smooth Slow Rec, for 240 fields per second slow-motion shots.

  The Super NightShot mode will come handy as well: it can record in total darkness
