I have some video of my kid’s birthday “make-over” party along with some “before” and “after” jpeg photos of each girl who attended. I want to intersperse the photos between video segments of each girl getting made over.

I would like the “before” picture to come on screen, accompanied by a camera shutter sound effect, sized to fit on the left side of the screen and rotated perhaps 20 or 30 degrees counterclockwise. Then, again accompanied by the shutter sound effect, I want the “after” picture to appear, rotated clockwise by about the same amount.

Can I do this in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 6? What is the best way to approach this? Any suggestions or pointers would be gratefully accepted!!

BTW, this party was a real hoot! The girls really enjoyed the transformation into a princess, rock star, or movie star!

I have the full Vegas so I really don’t know the limitations of Studio except for the number of tracks – but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Place photo 1 on track 1. Use event pan and crop to size and place it. Place photo 2 on track 2 and do the same thing. Move photo 2 to time you want it to appear. Both photos can be on the screen at the same time. At the very begiing of the first photo place a ‘transition’Use a very short hard white flash. It will look like a flash bulb going off and the the picture appears. You will need to find a sound effect of a shutter (or record one) and place it in track 3 under the ‘flash’. Have fun.

Thanks for your help! I had already used event pan to crop the jpegs to exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t figure out how to use it to place the jpeg at an angle, though. So I set up Photo 1 on one track (video overlay left, I called it) and used track motion to get the angle. Then I did the same thing with Photo 2, on another track (called video overlay right, not surprisingly).

I already had the shutter release sound from a Sony sound sampler CD that came with the software. But your suggestion for the short hard white flash was a great one – I’m working on that next.

Thanks again! This is a wonderful forum.
