  Video8 PAL to DVD advice…

  I’ve just started converting my PAL Video8 tapes to DVD. I have a Digital8 camcorder for converting the footage to the DV format. So far, Vegas 7 has been a joy to use, and finding my way around the basics has been relatively straight forward.

  I’m unsure of what settings I should be using for the optmial results. What MPEG2 settings should I use? I’m guessing I don’t need to go above a 352×288 resolution due to there only being 250 lines in the Video8 source? What Min/Average/Max VBR bitrates should I be using?

  I also have a collection of Hi8 tapes. Should I convert them at 720×576 because of the increased lines in Hi8?

  What applies to vhs quality applies to Video8 as well, however Video8 is somewhat better than vhs.
