    Vegas 7 & 60i, 24p, 30p & JVC GY-HD110

    Hi All

Someone at a camera shop told me today that I can’t shoot with the JVC HD110 and capture it using Vegas unless I shoot 60i. That Vegas won’t handle 24p or 30p. But I’m better off shooting progressive mode???? I dunno! ugh!

Am looking at a new camera. First thought was the Sony PD-170 but then I was told beter to get the HDV so I’ll have the HD option when I’m ready, but still can shoot my old “normal” SD MiniDv.

So leaning toward the Sony Z1U or the JVC HD110 but the Sony has Steady Shot which I need for my Railroad shooting but I understand the JVC is the better camera especially for the legal video work.

I’m perplexed! Don’t know what to do, But I need a camera that will actually print the date-time on the video.

    Suggestions?

    Absolute bull!!
Vegas was the first NLE to successfully handle 24p (on the Panasonic DVX-100) and continues to do so extremely well to this day.
The person at the camera shop has obviously never sat down and played with Vegas 🙁

Hi, my question is quite similar. I’m using Vegas 8 and think about buying a new camera. The problem is I need a camera that shoots 1280×720 30p on a harddisk (quite a problem in Germany as most do only PAL 25p) and the material should be compatible with Vegas (without any re-encoding). It looks like the JVC GY HD110/111 with harddisk DR-HD100-80 is a winner.

Does anyone has any experience with this, or has a better choice of camera?

I looked into the Sony HVR Z7, but this one is hard to get in germany with the 30p (it’s actually illegal to import…)
