  AE displays 3GB of RAM while there is 11GB

  Hi

  I run AE CS3 on a macpro.
  when i bought the mac I got 3 GB of RAM with it.

  recently I added an additional 8 GB of RAM to my system.
  My mac recognizes the RAM but when I open AE It displays it uses xx% of 3 GB of RAM.

  Why is this?
  Is it because I installed AE when there was only 3 GB of RAM present at that time?
  Or does it not recognize it ?
  The additional RAM is from OWC.

  This comes up a lot.

  After Effects is a 32-bit program. This means it can only address 3GB of memory.

  You can push AE to use more under the multiprocessing section of the preferences. I believe each additional process you add can use up to 3GB each. However, this will not help with RAM previews.

  (Disclaimer: I’ve been wrong before. But while the details might be off, I believe most of this post to be accurate.)
