    Has anyone here dealt with Wildform and their titler WildFX Pro? I’ve used it successfully for several years. I’m now migrating from an old XP Pro machine to a newer XP Pro machine, and I can’t get it to install. When I asked them for help, they sent the email extracted below. While I admire their problem, I’m a bit put off by demand for $29 to solve an installation problem, particularly since this is the same company that during the “free” support period released several bug fixes which I only learned about by asking; they don’t make it a policy to notify customers of fixes, either actively via email, or passively by posting the information on their web site.
    Is my annoyance unreasonable, or is this just the way of the software world these days?

    The free technical support period on the software license you purchased has expired. Technical support includes requests for assistance with the use of Wildform software products as well as requests for license information, additional downloads and install assistance for previously purchased licenses.

    In order to obtain technical support you can either purchase additional technical support, or you can purchase a new software license for any Wildform software product (including plugins for and upgrades to your current software products if applicable).

    Technical support prices are as follows:
    – Single incident email support is $29.
    – One year email support is $99.
    – Single incident telephone support support is $75.

    Why does Wildform charge for technical support?
    Wildform provides one year of free email support with your license (including support for downloads, lost serial numbers and installation) which is more than the vast majority of software vendors. However, it costs a great deal of money to maintain our servers, databases, website and customer records, and it costs a great deal of time and money to have knowledgable people who can provide technical support. Consequently, it is just not possible to offer unlimited free support.     If you are having trouble installing, make sure that you: 1) are installing on a supported operating system, 2) have an active internet connection and 3) that you are entering your user name and serial number exactly as shown in the e-mail you received from us when you bought your license (we suggest cutting and pasting this information into your installer because if the information you enter is off by even a space, the installation will not work).

    Yes. One thing I don’t like about this software, is that the “copy protection code” is linked to the computer you originally install it on. If you get another computer, your at their mercy. I did get a new “code” when I had to buy a new computer. Give them a phone call.
