Im making a DVD that is suppose to display the names and information of clients. I can only have 5 names on a page. I need the names to scroll up, pause for about 20 seconds then have the first name scroll off the page and everything else move up one spot. So name number 2 would move up to the one spot and name 6 would come on to the page at the bottom. Im having some trouble trying to figure this one out. Any suggestions?

Bobby1135 , see if this technique works for you.
Create slide #1 and drop it on the timeline.
Copy/paste it in position next to slide #1, doing a slight overlap of 1 sec. or so.
Delete client 1’s name and add client 6 to the bottom.
Stick with the basic dissolve or select one of the Linear Wipe transitions (either top down or bottom up).

Make a document in photoshop that is 720 x howmany ever pixels it takes to get ALL your names on the document. It might be quite long.

Bring the image into Vegas. Open pan/crop and match output aspect ratio. Click the button to “prevent x movement.” Then use keyframes to scroll the text, moving and pausing where you need to. To keep the speed constant, have the same amount of distance between keyframes in the areas where it moves.

Mary has a good suggestion there.
I would add that if you want the text to scroll on/off within the frame (not the top and bottom of the screen), you can use a mask to achieve that.

    By any chance–
Are you making the newest version of that chain letter, where everybody sends a dollar, and you add your name to the list and cross off the first?
    Finally a DVD version!

    🙂

Good luck, sounds like those suggestions will work.
    I couldnt resist.

    Eric.
