    Sony Vegas 5.0

I have a million AIFF files from a royalty free cd that I purchased. If I play the audio files by themselves, as a stand alone file, they all work. If I am in Vegas and attempt to open SOME of these files, I receive a generic error message:

“An error occurred while opening one or more files.
The file is most likely corrupted or of an unknown format.”

Well first of all I know that the file works because they will work if I navigate via Explorer and play them outside of Vegas.

Second of all, SOME Of the files work just fine to open in Vegas. It is as if this is a roll of the dice to see which ones will open/not open.

Finally, this happens on many other computers, not just the same one. And the behavior is only when using Vegas.

    HELLLLLLLLLP!!!! ANY ONE……HELLLLLLLP

Should I batch convert these sound files?
    Thank you!

I know what your saying !!!
I have been there as well.

I have old mpeg2 files of fire, explosions that used to work in earlier versions of software.
Now they randomly crash when I preview them. However if I preview with media player etc… then all is good.
So I am converting them to formats that still hold the alpha channel to use them.
    Sooo…
    By all means do this.
Find 2-3 files that dont play nice and convert to MP3 192kbps
(or anything you want depending on how you use them)
    then try them again.
If all is well do a mass batch conversion !!!!
