Interlaced Video Preview
Hello,
I am working w/ interlaced footage in Vegas video – NTSC-DV footage – Lower fields.
My project setting are exactly that of my footage. Now to my question/s –
I am seeing horizontal lines (like interlaced footage) during movement and what to know if this is normal because it’s playing back on a “progressive” screen, my LCD monitor. When I playback the footage in Windows Media Player, I also see the same lines. I’m 95% sure this is normal, but want to make sure before I do all the final touches and output and burn to DVD that I don’t have some field order, pull down, interlace, etc issues. The final output is going to be to DVD, so I figured I’d just leave the video interlaced throughout my editing.
I did export a small clip to progressive and the horizonal lines where gone, but I noticed a degrading in sharpness and quality.
thanks for the help.
Also, you’d figure Vegas would build in some deinterlacing in the “preview” monitor when it detects interlaced footage. I don’t see any harm in that or atleast give you the option to turn it on or off if you are outputing to a interlaced source. Maybe it’s there any I don’t know where.
