Is there any way to rescue this file? I’ve tried to look for a back up file but the latest one is missing the last few days of work. I had a problem that I couldn’t get out of selection mode in the trimmer, so I saved the project and closed Vegas. Now when I try to open the project it loads (100% 1 of 5) and shows error message dialog. After clicking OK the application closes. Here are the detail of the error:

The first thing I would try is moving all the media so that the project can’t find it. Then see if it will open with “Ignore Missing Media”. Then you can start adding the media back in one piece at a time until you either find the offending media OR everything is working again.

I know it won’t help now but it could for the future… The “Save Veg” tool in Excalibur was designed exactly to prevent this from happening. When you save with that tool, it will save the project THREE times – two of them with date/time appended to the file name allowing you to easily go back one revision or several days as needed.

Thanks. Fortunately I found finally a back up file that was only few hours old so was able to redo stuff relatively easy. Since then I saving my file every few hours with different names – doing it manually for now. Excaliber is on my wish list.
