    Hi,

heres the problem. I’ve created a simple slideshow with fades (no zooms) in after effects 7 and exported as MPEG-2 DVD. brought this into DVD Architect 3, added a menu and a simple play track button. It encodes in no time and burns no problems. During playback on an interlaced TV the image flickers in the high-contrast/detailed parts of the image.

i’ve tried a couple things and can’t figure it out. i’ve read another post on this site but it wasn’t resolved. any help is appreciated.

all the settings i used to export from AE7 are below.
    thanks.

heres what i’ve exported from after effects as:
    DISK 1:
    Render Settings:
    quality best
    res full
    size 720×480
    field render off
    frame rate: 29.97
    pulldown off

    Output Module:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Final Size: 720×480

DISK 2 (only changed lower field first):
    Render Settings:
    quality best
    res full
    size 720×480
    field render Lower Field First
    frame rate: 29.97
    pulldown off

    Output Module:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Final Size: 720×480

DISK 3 (only changed upper field first):
    Render Settings:
    quality best
    res full
    size 720×480
    field render Upper Field First
    frame rate: 29.97
    pulldown off

    Output Module:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Final Size: 720×480

    DISK 4:
    exported field render off
Format: MicrosoftDV (keyframes every 1 frame, spatial qual 100)
(note: never actually burned this b/c i watched the playback and there were other problems that played back poorly)

Perhaps field render should be on.

Also, it’s a fact of life that when you take a high detail image, you can get interlace flicker on fine detail such as thin lines, and the only way to prevent that is to “dumb down” the image with a touch of blur.
