    Hello everyone!

I have a little problem with the script render_and_email.jsx on sending it to Gmail. What am I supposed to write as the smtp address? I tried to enter smtp.gmail.com, but the email failed (I don’t know if the specific reason is the smtp server address).

This is what the dialog says:
    Script Alert
    Unable to send email.
TypeError: null is not an object

    Please help!

hi, i use a similar script and send it to a hotmail account once. in the 1st email window you have to type your server address. if you go file/scripts/email_setup.jsx it’ll tell you what that is there. and then in the 2nd email window you type in your email address, blahblahblah@gmail.com

    hope that helps

Thank you Dave for your response!

As far as I understood your answer, it didn’t quite answer my question, or maybe I just didn’t understand it.

    Let me explain my problem:

I have a Gmail account, and I want to send an email to my cellphone when the render completes. What do I have to write as the smtp server address? I tried smtp.gmail.com, but the email somehow failed.

Maybe that’s not the problem, but what can be the problem??

    Best regards,
    Eliezer

It could be that Gmail uses a different port than the script is expecting. Have you tried smtp.gmail.com:587?

Just a stab in the dark, as I haven’t used the script myself. (I might just do it now though!)

    Cheers,
    Ben

    Hello,

    Try this:
    smtp.gmail.com:username@gmail.com

Have you tried using an SMTP: such as you@yourdomain.com rather then a freebie email account?

No. I only have a Gmail account.

Have you checked in the preferences that “allow scripts to access network” is checked? If it isn’t that might be causing the problem.
