  • Can DVDA button lead to random selection?

I did a search for this and came close, but didn’t find an answer. I would like to set up a game show format(think Jeopardy) for a company meeting. Can DVDA(I’m using v3) be set up so that it randomly selects a video from a list when a menu button is selected? Or, if not, perhaps have the button be grayed out after it is selected once? I suppose I can connected it downstream to another menu screen that already has the button grayed out and disabled. Would like to have an automated way to do this instead of a zillion screens if I can. Thanks

DVDA 3 will not allow you to do this. DVDA 4 has more options for programming macros.

Hi Unzar, I am an instructor in the Air Force in my other job, and we have a jeopardy game show that is set up using powerpoint.

I think that the lag time to do what you are trying to do would drive everybody crazy trying to do it on a DVD. I have a kids game that uses the dvd menus, and navigation is a pain, and waiting for it to catch up is SLOW.

We use this in class for test review questions. It is set up looking like a regular jeopardy screen, then you click on the box (answer) and it is linked to the appropriate slide with the question on it. It is a really great setup, and the links gray themselves out after being selected.
If you would like the file, I would be happy to email it to you. All you’d have to do is decipher how it is set up and change the questions.

I think you’re going to need to use a program like AMS (Auto Play Media Studio).

    https://www.indigorose.com/ams/

    or Mediachance’s Multimedia Builder

    https://mmb.mediachance.com/index.html

for that. Both programs are designed for what you’re asking. MMB I think is cheaper but AMS is easier to use. I have AMS. I use DVD Lab Pro from Media Chance which is a great program for authoring DVD’s. I use it in addition to DVDA. There’s others out there but these are the two I’m familiar with.

Thanks for the replies. I didn’t consider the menu lag time. Using DVDA doesn’t look practical for this as I had hoped.
