Anyone know how to create the Samllville affect of that makes Clark run fast -“Super run” ? I have tried using the clip above itself 5 frames later at a 55% lumancy, but it is not looking the show at all. It’s got to be some kind of blur effect, but I am not sure what. Either that or I should animate the run and then feed in the last fee steps of my actor. Any ideas would be great!

Also, anyone got an idea on how to do the opening creates effect (the letters breaking apart and coming at the camera)?
    Thanks!

Well having never seen the show (Smallville-I DO remember the original Supeman on TV with George Reeves though) I would first get the speed right. You can do this in a number of ways. First use a velocity envelope to 300% then render to AVI and bring back into Vegas apply another velocity envelope to it ETC until you achieve the proper amount of speed. I would think no more than 1 pass as an AVI with and additional velocity envelope maybe up yo 150 or 175 would probably be OK but I’m guessing. It’s trial and error. Another way to do the spped effect is with TIME BANDIT plugin if you have it. It’s part of Excalibur and also available seperatly. This will allow for very very high percentages and is actually figured on time not percentages of speed like the envelope. Either will accomplish the spped aspect. As for the motion try adding MOTION BLUR to the video bus OR try the NEWBLUEFX which has some effects that I think will be very very close if not exactly what you’re looking for.

If you have the camera on a tripod locked down solid you should be able to do a simple version of it. If there are other people in the scene they have to stay completely still. The person running or moving fast does their thing as you film it. Then once in Vegas you ghost the image. Apply speed as needed. Everything that is still will not blur and anything moving will. You should be able to apply FX to the film to improve the look. The sound effects are the most important thing to remember!!
