Upscaling entire AE project from DV/D1 to HD while keeping text crisp?
Hello,
I am working on a project we initially built in DV/widescreen resolution. The scope of the project has changed, and we now need to render it in HD. Short of scaling the whole thing up comp by comp, we are not sure how to do scale it up while keeping the text crisp. We have tried using an adjustment layer to scale everything up, but it does not keep the text crisp as all the text is in pre-comps to manage effects and multiple languages.
Is there a solution to this?

Plugins will not do a perfect job. I have instant HD and I must say that every time I use it on footage that I initially produced I go back and rebuild everything in hd.
Make a new hd comp. Drop your sd comp in there. You might be able to precompose some stuff and tick the collapse transformation switch. other things you might need to rebuild from scratch. might take a really long time but will look better in the end.

We have used Instant HD in the past with varying results. I find it works better for imagery than type which is opposite to what we’re trying to achieve. I do appreciate the help though!

Sometimes this works: Add a null, parent all layers to the null(assuming there aren’t any pre-existing nulls), select all, copy, create an HD comp, paste. Select the master null, hit S for scale, and scale everything up to fit in the HD comp.
If your text was created with AE text, it should be crisp, assuming no pre-comp issues.
This technique doesn’t always work well with 3D cameras and 3D layers.
