  Animation Changes After Import

  Well, I’m not sure if this is an After Effects question or a Final Cut question, but here goes anyway…

  I rotoscoped a file in After Effects. Nothing complex, just animated a green solid to extend a green screen around someone’s hand. Here’s the problem, though: I export it, then import it into Final Cut. Once I do, however, the animation is different. There’s changes in it that don’t appear in either the After Effects version or if I open it in Quicktime. Certain frames will just be different, one will have the solid extend across the person’s body, another will have an incomplete version of the animation I did. It’s as though it’s adding keyframes without my permission.

  Sorry if I cant’ describe it any better.

  I’m exporting from After Effects using the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1080i.
  This problem only occurs after I import it into Final Cut.

  Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m just not sure what to do at this point…

  Hi

  this may help, but I am no expert.

  I always export ae using sequences either tga and png… then import that or import them into Quick time pro and export how you want them …….may help… I find it “cleaner”.

  I use Premier pro though and FCP occasionally

  Thanks for all the great info.

  Here’s the deal with it: I’m working on this with someone else and he likes to use Final Cut, it’s what he knows, so we imported it in there and he did the work there. However, when it came time to do some AE work, he exported the little sections where I needed to do the rotoscoping and gave ’em to me.

  And yes, they were Apple Intermediate out of Final Cut. And I don’t know we’ll be using that it again. It’s just been problem after problem it seems.

  I’m rendering right now, trying that out. Thanks for the tip.

  And now that you know I’m new to all this, obviously. I think I might be getting somewhere.

  Oh, yeah. And one more question.

  What should I be expecting from the render? Can I then use that video file it creates in Final Cut? Or is there another step I have to take?
