  Excalibur 3 Or 5 Questions – Two Cams All Set In Long Project

  sorry about caps lock…

  i have 2 cams all synced up ready to go

  what i do not understand about the multi cam wiz is… adding the video tracks…

  does it see my existing timeline???

  i can see where sync media shows both ppip… but can;t see eny “where i am now ” video unless i were to literally cut out 1 track by hand – but even then i don;t see the “active video”

  OK… do i add every clip from my timeline physically, or what… i did select all of the clips that were in my timeline (one after the other in 2 cams in time line… put these in the “add” section of excalibur – and i ended up with a new project with about 2 dozen clips stacked on on top of the other in tracks…

  obviously i’ve never used it before…

  or.. do i have to add each clip 1 at a time and switch until that’s done then add another set of clips and continue… I sure hope not!!!

  the demo shows adding 3 single clips… but who’s video is just one clip on each track? – which leaves me to wonder…

  so…what am i missing?

  I would recommend going to http://www.jetdv.com/excalibur and taking a look at the Multi-Cam video.

  Short answer: Yes, Excalibur looks at YOUR timeline. The tracks must be named properly (i.e. 1 for the video and audio for camera 1, 2 for the video and audio of camera 2, etc…) and then “Sync” will create the PIP view for you so you can see all camera angles at the same time.

  Once the PIP view is created, you use the Camera switches to specify where you’d like to change to any particular camera. A tally is generated showing you which camera is “active” at any given point in time.

  Finally after all camera switches are added, you run Multi-cam which will create the Master track. All of this, including many more details, is included in the manual. However, I do recommend you look at that video which demonstrates how multi-cam is done using Excalibur.
