Ed, Gary or any others – I think I may be dreaming here, but it’s worth asking:

I’ve done generated text sub-title captions for a 30 min project, but now I’m converting them to DVD subtitles via Regions.

I can do one at a time and I will if necessary – but I was wondering if there was a script that could convert the text to the name of a region equal in position and duration to the text event?

    – as I said, worth a try to save a few hours’ work …

No. Scripts cannot see the “text” inside a generated media. I do have scripts that can create regions and use the media name or media comment as the text but you cannot read what’s in a generated media.

Thanks Ed – I feared that was how it was.

Ah well, at least I have a complete transcript to copy and paste to region names.
Interestingly, when I tried copy/pasting two line text from Generated Media to Region name, only the first line pasted. It works fine from a Word doc though …

Peter, if you have a transcript then please read through the DVDa documentation. You can skip the whole process of regions in Vegas.

If you want, I can send you samples of what I used when I did this and walk through the process as much as I can remember.
