    Hi,

I’m new to Vegas and need advice on how to perform a particular function.

I have a three track live recording that contains a dozen or so songs. The tracks are as follows:
    Track 1 – Vocal
    Track 2 – Guitar (Line)
    Track 3 – Guitar (Mic)

Since all the songs are consecutive on the three tracks, I need to create a new file for each song. I thought it would be easy to mark from the beginning to end of each song on all three tracks, copy, and paste it as as a new file.

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong because when I try to paste, nothing is happening.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Since I am very new, step by step instructions would be very helpful.

    Thanks,
    Jan

Not really following what you want to do. Are you trying to create one file with a mix of the three tracks? Where are you pasting to?

Place a marker (M key) at the beginning of song #1.
Place another marker at the end of song #1.
    Repeat for all songs.
Now double click in the area above the timeline between markers 1 & 2.
The section between these two should now be highlighted.
If anything other than this happens, try it again and raise the cursor a bit higher in this blank area.
Now select “File – Render As” and select “Wave (Microsoft)(*.wav) in the “Save as type box.
Give it a name (song 1.wav for example).
Before you click “Save” be sure to select the “render loop region only” box. This way, only that song will be rendered.
Repeat the above steps for each song.
