I have been told by a couple of local tv stations that as of January 1, 2006 all shows submitted must be encoded with closed captioning. The prices I found so far for software is around $7,000. Is there a cheaper way to do it? Does Vegas have any features for this? This definitely wasn’t in my budget!!!

This is not a feature built into Vegas. As far as I know, the cable company that airs our church service has NOT told us this and I’m sure we’ll be submitting something the first week without closed captioning. At one time I did search for software to do this and didn’t find anything. Instead, the basic advice was to send it out to a company that does this sort of work.

There are exceptions to the new closed captioning rules, including local productions. Go to the FCC.gov site and search ‘closed caption’.
