  16:9 Question

  Hi All.

  I am editing a project that uses several flash effects. The source footage is 4:3, but I have changed it to 16:9 (through the event pan/crop). The problem is that when I add the flash effect, it covers the black bars as well. How do I fix this so that is only appears over the footage and not the bars? I am working in a regular timeline as well. Thanks for any suggestions.

  1)Create your letterbox effect by adding a mask to a track above everything else.

  or

  2)Bring your project on to a new timeline as a nested veg and add the Pan/Cropp setting to that.
