Chroma Key ?
I want to insert myself into a movie. Lets say there is a star wars scene and I want to put myself into the scene instead of luke skywalker. I figured out how to use chroma key and my image appears over luke skywalker, but I can still see luke underneath me. Do I need to somehow delete him first in the scene or play with transparency or something?

Chroma key’s main purpose is to put a person in a scene that that’s been constructed for that purpose. It was never designed to have one person replace another. The only way this could be done is if your movements matched his exactly (which is virtually impossible) or he was painted out of the scene, frame by frame (a lot of work).
A roundabout way of saying that what you’re attempting to do will probably never look as good as you had originally hoped. -
it doesn’t nescessarily have to be done frame by frame. You need a scene with a static camera (no pans/tilts/zooms) and a moment where there are no characters in the scene. You place this empty shot in the track above the shot with the action, crop it so it only covers luke skywalker, so that erases Luke.
Then above that you put yourself in front of the bluescreen.
