I made a project and want to render sections at a time. How do I do this? I made the project which is about 2.03 hrs long. I want to be able to break this up so I can have four different menus to choose from when I put it in DVD3. It is all my vacations since 2001, and I want to be able to choose which place I want to view in a menu. I made one whole project, and figure that’s what I have to do now to be able to set it up that way, right?

You can either render out the various pieces separately using loop regions to pick the sections or you can go ahead and render out as one long piece. Either way you can do what you want. In DVDA you can specify whether any link uses a portion of the file or the whole thing.

Are you wanting to also be able to start at the beginning and let it play all the way to the end? If yes, I would vote for a single file. If no, you may very well be better off splitting it into smaller pieces.

Originally I was thinking whole thing, but I thing it would be better to be able to choose which vacation you wanted to look at. I don’t think anyone will want to sit through 2 hours straight.
And to do a region, I have to do what? I’m not sure I did it right. I made a marker on the timeline at 0:00, and named it Alaska 2001, and then drug it to the end of that vacation. It inserted a marker #2 at that point.

Just double-click above the timeline between those two markers. That will create a selection area between them. Then render that section to its own file.

I prefer to render the entire project as MPEG2 with markers. I then create a DVDA project with menus, add the one big file and then a scene selection thumbnail. This give one the best of both worlds, watching the whole thing or jumping to a specific section or sub-section. The only trade-off here is after the section is finished was chosen the video continues on till the end. The poor end user is stuck having to hit the menu button;-)

    Good luck
