    Anybody else using Showstoppersfx animations?
Just received their product and installed. When I view an example in their supplied viewer it looks great. However when I drop one on the Vegas time line and render it its totally unacceptable. Even just playing it from the time line it is bad. The colors are off, the pyro effect look nothing like they look in the preview etc. Am I doing something wrong?

I’ll have to do some digging. I have one of their products somewhere – will have to see which one it was.

Should just be a matter of dropping it on the timeline, though, and choosing the appropriate transparency method.

    Terry,

It sounds like you need to select “Straight” for the alpha channel (transparency information) “option” in the Properties panel of the animation in Vegas. We show how to do this in the Vegas tutorial we supply on the product you purchased.

The default setting for the alpha channel for clips in Vegas is “None”. Until you change that to “Straight” the colors, etc., will be “off”.

To do this, select the animation either in the media bin or on the timeline, use the right mouse button and select “Properties”, select the “Media” tab and under “Alpha channel” select “Straight”.

Once you do this Vegas will then use the 8 bit alpha channel transparency information that the animation contains for every frame for every pixel.

We choose to include alpha channel information on our pyro, particle effects, overlays, lower thirds and title animations since this provides the cleanest and easiest way to “key” the animations over any video source.

The alpha channel information allows for 256 levels of transparency on a frame by frame and pixel by pixel basis. This allows us to have partially transparent, softed edged drop shadows and to have the animation’s transparency vary on a pixel by pixel basis and from frame to frame thus giving us significant design flexibility in the “look” of the animations.

The Vegas tutorial that we supply on the product you purchased also gives a varity of other helpful hints on how to use the ShowStoppersFX animations.

    I hope this helped.

    Thanks,
