    Hi

I was just wondering if I can capture video from an existing DVD? I wanted to re-edit my wedding video, but don’t have the original footage.

    Thanks
    Martin

    Hi Gary

Thanks for the prompt response. I haven’t got Vegas in front of me at the moment (I’m at work), so I can’t test it, but does this work for proper DVD files, rather than MPEPGs? The DVD I’ve got has VOBs and stuff on it.

    Thanks
    Martin

Yes, that option is designed to work with the VOB files on the DVD. However, note that it was added as a new feature in Vegas 6.0c.

    One more thing…

Now that I have captured from my DVD, obviously it is one loooong video. Is there a simple way to cut it up into smaller peices which can be dragged in to my new movie?

    Thanks

Vegas cannot join Mpeg segments without recompressing.

    Hi Gary

I think I worked it out … I just use the Trimmer and create sub-clips, yes?

    Then what?

Then the sub-clips appear in the Project Media folder and can be dragged into my new masterpeice…
