  Vegas 6 + DVD -vs- Vegas Movie Studio + DVD HELP

  Could someone please tell me the difference between the $499 Vegas 6 + DVD bundle and the $129 Vegas Movie Studio + DVD available at my local computer store? The clerk tells they are one and the same. I find this hard to believe. Thoughts?

  Welcome to the “dark” side (non-Velocity, that is) George!!

  Sounds like the clerks at your local computer store need to do some reading on the products they’re selling 🙁

  Yes, there are several differences between the two.
  The Vegas Family Comparison chart is a good place to start.
  The biggest differences are that Movie Studio is limited to 4 tracks each of audio and video, doesn’t have 5.1 capability and limited colour correction tools.

  Hey! Nice to see a familiar name. I need something affordable for my laptop to edit a 24p DV feature we shot last month. I was going to use Velocity but our soundman is hot on Vegas. Besides, it frees up Velocity for paying jobs.

  George, Vegas does a great job on 24p. If your soundman has/wants version 6, it has a few improvments for 24p over version 5.
  If your DV camera was a DVX100, there’s a white paper on it to read.
  I guarantee that, once you try Vegas, you’ll wonder why Velocity’s audio can’t be even half as good 🙂
