Mono to stereo
I have a video that was created with two (1-left and 1-right) external microphones. Unfortunately, the right microphone input failed to provide audio.
I’m using Vegas 6.0b.
Is there a way that I can get a copy of the left audio channel into the right audio channel, so that I can pan left and right to simulate stereo output? I know it isn’t perfect, but at least I would have something from each speaker similar to stereo.
I tried to do the job by dupilicating the Vegas audio track into another track of Vegas audio. Then I swapped channels on the duplicated audio track, but the audio still only comes out of the left speakers.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Right-click the audio and choose Channels> Left only and it will go out both channels.
For simulated stereo, there are some VST plug-ins that could help. You should be able to find some on the internet.

I just had to add one more step to the procedure.
In the second track you have to “PAN Right” to allow the audio for that track to reach the speakers on the right instead of the left.
I’m fairly new and learning a lot here and there is a much more of learning to become proficient at it.

There is no need for a second track. Either that, or I am misunderstanding you.

You’re correct, I could use just the one track of audio by using the left channel in mono mode and pan left and right at my discretion. However, as someone pointed out to me, by using two tracks and using the audio FX “Simple Delay” module and selecting “Pseudo Stereo” from it you do get a simulated stereo effect with little effort. Certainly much easier than panning through alomost an hour of video to create a similar (but different) effect.
