  Why dropped frames?

  Hi,

  Until few days ago I used a PIII system without
  any (technical) problems.

  Recent upgraded my system:
  FSB 800 PIV with HT, 3 GHz, Asus P4P800 E deluxe,
  1 G Ram (2*512 MB, Kingston, DDR400 in dual channel),
  and a PATA raid 0 150 GB (2* 80G maxtor diamond
  max plus 9 8MB cache)

  Since the motherboard has a via vt6307 firewire controller,
  I kept my ads pyro DV card (ti based), which I used for almost
  2 years.

  Now, I get dropped frames approx. one in 90 sec.
  This means about 20-30 dropped frame on a tape.
  What could be wrong?

  The DV card is the same (pyro basic dv), the hard drives
  are the same, what changed is only motherboard; CPU; RAM,
  and the OS: that was win2k, now XP.

  Vegas is also the same (5.0 build 134).

  Any idea highly appreciated.

  It could be a resourse conflict, or just little green gremlins. Hard to know for sure. Try decreasing the size of your preview window and see it that helps.

  Remove 1394 from the network protocols. You may be seeing an interruption when the computer checks for other nodes on your local network. It will do that from time to time, but usually more often than 90-seconds.

  Thanks for the hints,

  I disabled the network conn. via iee1394,
  (there were nothin bind to it),
  also disabled the onboard firewire, but
  am still getting dropped frames.

  It must be the green gremlins.

  Or something with XP SP2.

  Anyone here using asus p4p800e board?
