I just purchased a External Plextor dvd burner for my laptop. I have vegas5 and dvda2. I DIDN’T load the software that came with it…it was mostly Roxio software programs. My laptop recognized the plextor drive. But when i went to burn a dvd from dvda2 i went to the page that said select burn ParametersDevice: was greyed out, not showing my plextor burner. and also there was no SPEED listed. I assume DVDA2 isn’t recognizing the burner. What can I do for dvda to recognize my burner?
    Thanks………

[Gary & Yvonne] “What can I do for dvda to recognize my burner?”

Upgrade to DVDA3. Unfortunately DVDA2 has pretty limited support for bruners.

For now you will need to install some of that software that came with your burner. At least then you will be able to “Prepare” using DVDA and then “Burn” using the software that came with your burner.

With my laptop I often have to reboot with the external burner already turned on for Windows to find it.

You might try downloading the latest firmware from plextor.

I too have a Plextor along with a Pioneer. It seems to me that there was a Plextor tools choice on the install disk that installed the appropriate drivers. I can, however, confirm that DVDA3 works well with Plextor. Just make sure DMA is enabled in the Plextor properties. Those properties are accessed through the tools program. It wasn’t on my first few burns causing a 30 minute burn time for a 4.7 gig DVD. Once enabled, that was reduced 8 minutes.

    Good luck,
    David
