    Hello all,

I am new to this site and new to video editing period. I used earlier versions of Vegas to edit my sound mixes as I am a DJ up in the Toronto, Canada area. I started to play with the video side of things within Vegas and discorvered a real interest in it. I am now editing part time for a few Wedding companies to get my feet wet. Anyway enough about me, when I select a certain text within Vegas 6.0, it does not display properly on the external monitor. Actually, it is not recognizing the font I want? Can anyone advise?? I hope you guys do not get sick of me as I will be asking lots of questions..

Thanks for the great posts…Keep em up..

I have found that there are some fonts that simply do not work properly.

Is it possible that over 40% of the fonts do not work properly?? Is there an add on font package that works well with Vegas??

    Thanks for the info..

TrueType fonts should work well – but I’ve seen some of them have spacing issues. 40% sounds like a lot.

I almost never use Vegas’ text generator…it’s cumbersome and the text generated isn’t very high quality.

Boris Title Motion comes bundled with Vegas; try that. Or you may have another character generator like Title Deko. If you don’t like those programs, you can always create titles in Photoshop.

In any of these programs, simply save your work as a still graphic image (.jpg, .tga, or .png) and import into Vegas.

Boris Grafitti Lite is bundled with Vegas but will not work directly on the timeline – only as a standalone. To get timeline functionality, you have to purchase the full version.

Title Motion appears to be an Inscriber product that doesn’t appear to support Vegas.

Some other titling programs that DO support Vegas include Heroglyph and Cayman Graphics titler. Naturally any standalone will also work such as BluffTitler and Ulead Cool 3D.

However, I feel many people underrate the built-in generated media. It really is quite powerfull when mixed with the othe features of Vegas. That’s not to say I wouldn’t like to see improvements in that area as I do feel it could be drastically improved.

We create all of our fonts in Photoshop, and create png’s with alpha for use as keys. We find that photoshop just has extremely clean graphics. We do the same for our Avid, After Effects (altho for after effects we don’t create png’s since after effects accepts photoshop files directly).

Charlie, Vegas should take the PSD with transparency files too. The transparency should be automatically recognized.

Yeah, my bad. I knew something seemed wrong about “Title Motion”, but I just couldn’t come up with what it was.

“Graffiti” is what I meant to say.
