I have made several photo slide shows in the past with media studio pro. This one will be for my daughters wedding and I may use it for demo purposes. I have about 140 still photos with transitions and music. Usually I would start with a blank 720 x 480 in Photoshop with safe grid marker and add the picture that I want. I could then adjust the size of the picture to fit my markers. Last I would resize my picture to 720 x 534. Now my picture is ready for media studio pro and in the overlay track I could add a soft edge or borders. In Vegas I can also add borders or glow with track motion but I haven

To add the soft edge go into VideoFX tab goto BORDERS and its there for the taking. You can adjust the size and color of the border.
There are a few other border styles there as well. Have fun!

Thanks for your reply and although this was a feature I really wasn’t aware of it did not fit my current needs. This border goes around the whole event and which includes alpha space and what I need is to have the soft border around only the pictue which is in the middle of the screen with the alpha channel empty space around it.

You apply the border to the image itself – not the track. The border should be tight against the image (of course it’s hard to tell without seeing the image(s)). There’s also a small triangle to the left of the border FX timeline which controls whether the effect is added pre or post pan/crop changes.

As for effects, I’m betting that the crossfade is the best option for 99% of your transitions. However, Vegas has a TON of transitions you can easily add.

Edward is right for the most part except the weight of the transitions.
On a calibrated scale, they total only 1900 lbs.
