I am fairly new to vegas 5 and i am going through spotted eagles manual checking things out. I love this software, but I ran into a workflow situation and it appears there is no workaround.
I understand how to use envelopes, and i know how to insert points to give me control over lets say opacity on clips residing on the same track. the problem I have is anytime I want to get more options using the track header there is no way to use it withoiut it putting the effect on everclip on that track. I understand the term track header should speak for itself, but during my work flow I am finding that I must create a new video track so often, that is is crowding my workspace to the point of being bothersome. For software that is so intuitive in so many ways, it seems crazy that i cant totally control and put things on a clip on the timeline, and be able to do something entirely different to a clip adjacent to it even if it does share the same track. Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance

If I am understanding you correctly, you want to apply effects to indifidual clips? no problem my friend! Simply click on the effects icon on the individual clip OR drag the desired effect from the FX tab to the event on the time line. Done and done.

thanks for your reply, I know i can use the effects stuff, I am talking about applying things like composite types like screen, alpha etc. The effects that are listed under the track header are not available on individual clips or are they

Once I understood the question, I THOUGHT I had the answer, but it appears I do not.

Under the track-motion header, one can specify compositing modes, and I always ASSUMED the changes were keyframe-able. Now that I look closer, I see that it’s not(?) Hmmph! Ya learn something every day.

Now I wonder if I, too am missing something.

Sorry I could not help in this case.
