Hi,

    I’m just wondering how to create realistic dispersion of ink dye in water (like in the picture below):

    I found similar case on https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/936354#952036, but unfortunately I have too limited time to experiment with 3D particle system. I don’t have professional video camera either to make the live shoot.

    Is there some particleIllusion Ink emitter available or how do I customize an existing emitter for this purpose?

    Thanks in advance,
    Joss

    I’ve been experimenting with creating this type of emitter lately, and I don’t think it’s possible. You need to use a fluid simulation of some sort.

    It just doesn’t work well with an image-based particle system.

    Joss, I was just perusing the AE site, and on the Contact Us page I noticed this…called Ink Effects…

https://www.videocopilot.net/contact/

    Of course, it’s not a particle emitter effect, and you’d probably have to buy whatever software that was created with, but it might be worth checking out.

    And I don’t think Alan and friends wouild mind my referring you to it, (at least I hope not).

    @Alan:
    Thanks a lot, it’s a new, useful knowledge for me.

    @Kurt:
    I can’t find anything on the URL, except for an ad of a Videocopilot product, on the right side of the page. Which product did you mean?
    Thanks again.

    Yes, sorry, Joss, it is a video copilot item. It’s the one called “Riot Gear”. It’s actually reaf footage that’s been keyframed and can be added to your footage as layer.

    I didn’t look very closely, all these great goodies start to merge into one huge Alladin’s Cave sometimes!

    Anyway, since Creative Cow had a link to VcoP, I figured they won’t mind my promoting it.

    Kurt.
