  Particle Illusion Hangs after update to 3.0.8 (Mac OS X)

  Hi,

  Yesterday I updated my Particle Illusion to the latest 3.0.8 on Mac OS X. I validated via the online page and after that Particle Illusion crashed. I restarted the application and it then wants me to point it to an emitter library. However the startup screen stays open and whatever I do I cannot actually select a librarie via the file browser so the app stays waiting forever and I can’t start working.

  Is there a way to reset the whole application? Or does anybody know what I should do to fix this?

  Delete your preferences file:

  / Library / Preferences / pIllusion3.prefs

  That should fix it.

  There are PI files in the Prefs folder!?
  I deleted PI and did a new install
  same thing
  starts to open
  hangs
  looking for emitter library
  in a folder called MacOS
  which I can not find

  Well for me it was because I unpluged my mac from the server network I have.
  when I plugged the mac back into the router it worked…..????

  It’s probably stuck trying to look for updates. It should know that there is no Internet connection available, but it may be that the timeout period is too long.

  It may also be related to the problem where it won’t see any updates or emitter libraries available on OS X (Snow Leopard only?).

  You should turn off the “check for updates” option in the preferences if you’re not going to keep it connected to the Internet.
