So you asked for help, I asked a question, and you ignored my response and gave up?
Have you tried other videos?
Have you tried rendering an AVI in particleIllusion of just particles, then loading that AVI into particleIllusion?
If EVERY AVI has this problem, that tells me one thing. If only a few have this problem, that tells me another, but I can’t help if you won’t work with me.

ok, i keep getting this message
“The framerate of this AVI(29.97fps) is not the same as the project framerate (30.00 fps)
The AVI will still be used, but results may not be what you intended.”
i have tried to import a 30fps AVI video but all i see is a black screen.

ok, i noticed that i get diff result with diff codecs but none the right one. any clue as to what the problem might be?

Use an uncompressed AVI file or an image sequence.
