    Hello,

I’m toying around with PI and trying to make some motion backgrounds similar to the ‘In The Round’ Jump Backs at Digital Juice. Basically the illusion of depth at the center is what I’m after. This is achieved by warping the graphic so it’s larger at the edges and small at the center in a smooth line.

    Particularly JB 1330, 1334, 1338 and 1340 as examples.

Could someone make some suggestions as to how I could set up some emitters that curver and change size to mimic that effect?

    Thanks,

    TW

In Mirage there is a warping grid tool that could take a straight line and create the depth effect. So an emmitter that made distinct shapes that moved in a straight line could work too. Hmmm, maybe just a series of object graphics shot out at random times, then I can blur and warp them.

I was going to say a similar thing — it seems that you should create the emitters as straight line, then use another app to warp it (looks like a fisheye lens type distortion?).

    Yes, a fisheye effect.

Thanks for letting me think out loud!

There’s a great Fisheye Distortion Effect in the Sapphire v2 plug-ins.
Depending on what system you are using you might be able to use it.
There’s a free fully-functional download available that lasts a month if you’re interested.
