  Is there any reason why rendering gets slower and slower when making a movie?

  hi there

  I keep finding that when I start to render out a movie, it gives an estimated time of say 40 minutes, but then as it slowly goes thru the film, the rendering gets slower and slower and the estimated time goes up and up. Its not as if the animation is anymore laborous, so I dont understand why? An initially estimated 40 minutes turns into over 2 hours, its really frustrating!

  There are a number of reasons:

  1. Your processor may not report its operating times accurately.
  2. At a certain point in your comp you have a severe amount of effects. Animation is not what makes a comp take long to render, it’s the amount of effects you have.
  3. You are running more than one program along with AfterEffects that is giving it problems.
  4. You may need more memory because AfterEffects may be using a swap file after it fills up your system’s memory.
