looping a fire
Posted by Alvin Ali on December 3, 2008 at 10:49 pmHey how’s it going guys? I am making a fire using particle systems 2. I want after the fire has started for it to just keep burning or keep the flame. I followed the particle system loop video tutorial on here then he said use time remapping to get ti to loop continuous but I can seem to get it to work any advice or a point in the right direction would help thanks in advance!!!

December 5, 2008 at 3:42 pmI don’t know how to solve your problem the correct way but I know another way that would probably work fine. lets say you precompose a 10 sec clip of fire. Then take that precomposed layer and in the middle of it hit shift command D(on mac) that will split the layer in half creating 2 layers. Now swap the first half with the second half. Then do a dissolve between the two where they meet. This will work particularly well with fire because of the nature of the flames.
Hope this helps.
God Bless

December 6, 2008 at 3:35 pmSorry about that. Once you split the layer in half it will create 2 layers. so take those layers and Swap them by takeing the one on the left and put on the right and the one on the right to the left. The point where you slpiced the fire layer in half will become your loop point.
I’m sorry, this is simple thing but it’s hard for me to explain it without showing you. I hope this explnation helps. If this still dosen’t make since let me know.

December 7, 2008 at 1:10 amhmm I didnt get it to work and i was trying late last night haha and for some reason i thought swap was swamp … I was really tired. When you say dissolve do you mean transition or blending mode? Do you by chance have a messenger?

December 7, 2008 at 2:55 amBy dissolve i mean to animate the opasity of one layer to the other. Animate the opasity of the left layer from 100% to 0% and animate the right layer from 0% to 100. Whent the left layer is keyframed at 100% the right layer should be keyframed at 0%.
Do you know a way to send emails without getting our emial accounts all over the internet?
