  Shooting b-roll to provide TV News stations?

  I’m a former video shooter/editor who works in PR now. When I’m able to get a TV News station to do a story about a client, sometimes the b-roll footage that accompanies the story ends up showcasing my client’s competition.

  Is it acceptable to shoot my own b-roll and provide to the TV station?

  What’s the typical format these days? What should I shoot this in (1080p, 720p, etc.)?
