bluray recorder
Posted by Paul Rozon on January 9, 2011 at 5:41 pmWe recently upgraded the imag in our theater to HD. We also record our shows HDSDI out of panasonic HS400 switch into KiPro for post production editing. I also record a downconvert of our line cut to a DVD burner for archival purposes.
I would like to record our shows direct to bluray for archiving but have had no luck finding a pro bluray burner with HDSDI inputs. In fact all bluray burners that I have found only have SD inputs.
Anybody out there know of a bluray burner with HDSDI inputs or HDMI inputs?

January 10, 2011 at 9:45 amI don’t know of any BluRay recorders that can directly record from an HD-SDI source.
If you convert the HD-SDI signal to an MPEG 2 transport stream you can record a live feed.
Feed HD-SDI into the Roland convertor and then run firewire from the Roland into a JVC BRD.https://pro.jvc.com/pro/attributes/DVD/brochure/srhd1250_1500.pdf

January 12, 2011 at 10:49 pmding ding ding – give the man a prize. This is the correct (and only ) answer on the market. “Everyone” wants a “box” that they can stick an HD-SDI baseband signal into, hit the REC button and make a blu ray. This combination of the JVC (with FW input) and the Edirol/Roland HD-SDI to FW converter is the only way to accomplish this.
And it’s not 200 bucks.

January 13, 2011 at 3:49 pmCertainly those of us looking for a “professional” Blu-Ray recorder with HD-SDI know we are going to be spending more than $200. But that Roland/JVC solution is what $5500? And those JVC recorders have some serious limitations. I think someone should be able to build something in the middle. The Ki Pro does a little of everything, has a small footprint, and is only $3500. I’m almost certain we will see a solution at NAB in the $2000 – $2500 range.(Fingers Crossed)

August 2, 2012 at 2:40 pmHi,
the new JVC requires 2 versions, 1 for US and 1 for europe.it also does not support the Film formats:
1080 24p or 23.98PsF, 1080p 30Hz, 1080p 25Hz, 1080p 29.97Hz,
and if it did they would be on seperate US/europe units.
seeing as Blu-ray comercial discs use film formats the JVC is aimed at broadcasters only.
Cheers
